Based in Alberta, Canada, LJ Energy is a First Nations led company specializing in standalone, rural and remote applications, emergency energy response and waste to energy systems. LJ Energy provides energy security, promoting sustainable futures in a more resilient energy system. Leonard StandingontheRoad and Jessica Hutton formed LJ Energy in response to their many years of experiences with rural and remote communities, reserves and settlements and witnessing the grid instability. Leonard and Jessica believe in the need for innovative energy solutions, and in equitable access to the creation of an energy ecosystem that supports a thriving planet for future generations.

Leonard StandingontheRoad
Chief Leonard Standingontheroad is the former Chief for Montana First Nation, and the former Grand Chief of the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations.
Chief Standingontheroad’s traditional Cree name is Spotted Eagle. Raised with the Maskwacis Cree culture, its values, and traditions, Chief Standingontheroad strives to practice that way of life. Chief Standingontheroad is married and has three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jessica Hutton
Jessica Hutton is a seasoned leader with over 15 years in senior management and C- level management. She has a specialty in systems change, and her career has been dedicated to working primarily in rural and remote locations. Jessica has worked providing services in Alberta, Nunavut and British Columbia. Jessica has worked within Indigenous cultures for many years and is well respected in her ability to facilitate relationships and implement innovative solutions. Jessica is based in Alberta where she lives with her son.
